There were 35 people of varying ages (1 male) who were provided with food parcels as acknowledgement of the work they do as Home Based Carers. I was asked to speak and acknowledged the important work done by these people on behalf of the African AIDS Foundation Board. The Home Based Carers liaise with the Community Support Team, provide education and information to people on Anti Retro Viral medication, provide feedback on support issues for families and liaise with other sections of Philakahle which provide support for gardens for people which maintain their health. In addition HBCs look after sick people and provide relevant referrals to Health Dept or the Philakahle CST. This work is funded by African AIDS Foundation Australia. The photo below was acknowledging me as the AAF representative and calling me by my Zulu name Ntshebe
I retired from Anglican Aid, the Sydney Anglican Diocese's overseas relief and development arm in April 2022 and then spent six months in Tanzania working in the Diocese of Musoma at the invitation of the bishop. I am essentially assisting with capacity building across various areas of the diocese.. In 2023 I led a tourof 18 Australians who visited and observed the work of the church in the Mara Region - three dioceses - Mara, Tarime and Rorya.
